DEPARTMENT PROFILE

 

Since the establishment of the college in 1963, the Department of Sociology has played a pivotal role in academic pursuits. Currently, the department is staffed by two permanent faculty members, with Dr. Paresh Parmar serving as the esteemed Head of the Department.

The Department of Sociology offers a Certificate course in ‘Issues of Gender Equality in Indian Society’. The department places a strong emphasis on advanced teaching-learning programs, often inviting guest faculties to enrich the academic experience. In addition to traditional classroom instruction, the department supplements teaching through seminars, workshops, projects, and an annual lecture series. A commitment to intellectual discourse and scholarly engagement is further demonstrated through the organization of national and state-level seminars, workshops, and conferences conducted by the department each year.
